The Hiawatha Valley League Champion Kasson-Mantorville Komets are the top seed in the Class 2A State Volleyball Tournament.  The Komets play St. Cloud Cathedral at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.  The Komets have been rated at the top of Class 2A by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association ever since they defeated H-V-L opponent Stewartville the last match of the regular season.  Stewartville had been at the top of rankings all season.  Kasson-Mantorville also defeated Stewartville in the West Subsection Section 1A title match before beating Lake City in the Section final on Saturday in four sets.

The Section 2 champion Belle Plaine Tigers (24-6) did not receive a top 5 seed and open with #2 seed Concordia Academy of Roseville ( 27-3) at 7:00 p.m. The #3 seed Marshall Tigers (27-5) will tangle with Park Rapids Area (24-6) 7:00 p.m.  #4 seed North Branch (26-4) and #5 seed Watertown-Mayer (24-6) square off at 5:00 p.m.

Kasson-Mantorville defeated Concordia Academy and Watertown Mayer in a tournament in September.  Their losses were to State Tournament qualifiers Minneota and Champlin Park.
