Rockford PD is opening its doors to a new generation of law enforcement officers as it begins accepting applications for its 2026 recruitment cycle.

According to the press release, the department is actively seeking entry-level candidates committed to public service, integrity, and strengthening relationships throughout the Rockford community.
Applications will remain open through March 31, 2026, giving prospective candidates several weeks to begin the hiring process.

According to the department, new recruits will start at a salary of $70,958, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, pension options, and paid time off.

The department also highlights long-term career opportunities within specialized units. After completing initial patrol service, officers may pursue assignments in areas such as K-9 operations, criminal investigations, and community engagement programs.
