An arrest has been made in connection with a December 2025 home invasion on Rockford's south side.

According to the press release, on December 26, 2025, Rockford Police officers were called to a residence in the 2800 block of 9th Street for a report of an armed robbery.

After investigating, Rockford Police eventually determined the incident was a home invasion, which prompted a follow-up investigation.

Suspect Identified and Search Warrant Approved

During the course of the investigation, Rockford Police Detectives identified 21-year-old Demarland Rollins of Rockford as the suspect.

Based on the evidence that was gathered, Rockford PD detectives obtained a search warrant connected to the case as the investigation continued into late January.

Gang and Narcotics Units Execute Warrant

On January 27, 2026, members of the Rockford Police Department's Gang and Narcotics Unit executed the authorized search warrant at a downtown Rockford residence in the 500 block of Locust Street.

During the search, Rockford Police officers recovered ammunition from inside the home, and Rollins was taken into custody at the scene without any incident.

Felony Charges Filed by State’s Attorney

Following a review of the case, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office approved multiple felony charges.

Rollins was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail and faces three counts of home invasion, three counts of armed robbery, and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Police note that additional charges or arrests may follow as the investigation remains active, and all charges are accusations. Rollins is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
