Northern Illinois Still Needs Rain, But Wednesday’s Storms Could Bring Too Much

If you've lived in Northern Illinois for any length of time, you've probably caught yourself thinking the same thing I've been saying lately: "We really need some rain."

Yes, most of our area received several inches of rain last weekend, but our lawns are still crunchy, gardens are starting to look a little sad again, and every farmer I know would appreciate another good soaking. I guess what I'm trying to say is this: we need the rain, but can we maybe not get ALL of it at once?

Severe Weather Expectations for Northern Illinois

As a mom with two kids in sports, Wednesday's forecast has me constantly refreshing my weather app and wondering if practice is actually going to happen.

Here's what has me watching the forecast closely:

Rain will begin moving into the Stateline area tonight, and if the storms repeatedly move over the same locations, some areas could see enough rainfall in a short period of time to create flooded intersections, standing water on roads, and poor visibility for drivers.

Please be careful and remember that it only takes a small amount of moving water to make driving dangerous, so try to avoid driving through a flooded roadway.

The silver lining? Once this storm system moves through, the forecast looks much more comfortable with lower humidity and pleasant temperatures for the rest of the work week.
