The world of cannabis has changed quite a lot in our state since Illinois legalized recreational marijuana, and it's much more socially acceptable than it ever was before.
The Residents Of Illinois Are Smoking More Cannabis Than Cigarettes
It's crazy how things change in Illinois. For many years, smoking cigarettes was completely acceptable. It was the "cool" thing to do, and many residents did. Even after finding out it was very harmful to your body, they still smoked. Same with alcohol. Most adults would come home from work and immediately have a cocktail before dinner. If someone smoked cannabis, they were looked down on. Now, the situation has flip-flopped. Marijuana is now legal and socially acceptable, while smoking is definitely not.

For the first time, more Americans are using marijuana on a daily or near-daily basis than alcohol or tobacco, according to newly released federal survey data.
Of course, a lot of that changed after cannabis was legalized in Illinois. Since you don't have to worry about getting arrested anymore, I believe more people are experimenting with marijuana. Plus, with the cost of tobacco and liquor skyrocketing, residents are trying new things.

Recently, a scientific research project discovered that for the first time ever, more people are smoking cannabis daily than cigarettes and alcohol in Illinois. It's pretty remarkable to think about, especially how bad a reputation marijuana had for so many years. It will be interesting to see if the trend continues. I believe it will.
