The year-end lists are flooding the interwebs but that doesn't mean you should ignore them.

Sure, if it doesn't have much of an impact on you or your life you might as well just let it go but you may miss out on a restaurant that you should probably try soon.

It's not often the New York Times pays attention to things in the Midwest and even less when you're talking about Wisconsin.

That's why I think it's a pretty big deal to see a restaurant located in Milwaukee end up on their 50 Favorite Restaurants for 2023 list.

First, two different Illinois restaurants were featured, Daises and Thattu. I already covered Thattu which you can get caught up on HERE.

As for Wisconsin, that restaurant is called Birch. Located at 459 East Pleasant Street, there's no real explanation why the New York Times said it was one of their favorite joints but based on reviews I can see why.

Thrillist called Birch one of 2018's best new restaurants and only five years later it's now one of the most favorite in America.

Yelp reviewers give the restaurant a 4.2 out of 5 overall with Ellie B. saying she was "totally blown away" and Taylor C. called it their "favorite restaurant in MKE."

Alisha Z. wasn't a fan of the seating calling them "disgustingly dirty" and they wouldn't "put a chair this dirty out at a yard sale" while Danielle N. said she left Birch "hungry because the portions are so incredibly tiny."

Despite the dirty chairs and small plates, I'm trying this joint. What about you? Have you been to Birch? What's your impression?
