Spring doesn't just arrive in Illinois... it literally teases us for weeks.  One 60-degree day, then boom! Back to winter weather.  So, before spring actually gets here, this is your sign to get ahead of it.

Besides burping your home, mopping your walls, and sock-dusting your blinds, there is a huge checklist you need to complete to be ready for spring!

Replace your air filters and clean your vents

After a long winter of running the heat nonstop, those filters and working overtime.  Swapping them out and vacuuming vents helps with dust, allergens, and that stale "closed up all winter" feeling.

Refresh your fabrics

Wash your throw blankets, pillow covers, comforters, even curtains if you're feeling ambitious!  Winter smells cling to everything.  A good wash instantly makes your house feel lights!

Defrost your freezers

If there's ice buildup, it makes your freezer work harder and wastes energy.  Toss old food while you're at it.. we both know there's something in there from 2018.

Declutter your house & donate unwanted items

Start by opening windows.  Then, go drawer by drawer to see what you need and don't need.  If you didn't use it all winter, do you really need it?  Less clutter makes spring cleaning way easier.

Parents, organize the play room

Donate toys your kiddos are no longer using and reset the space!  Someone else's kids would love your unwanted toys!

Clean under big appliances

Pull out the fridge and stove.  Do it.  You will be horrified, but at least you finally are cleaning under them to get all the grime and dirt away.

If you need to find the motivation to do any of this, I'm encouraging you not to procrastinate.  Do it this weekend or you'll totally regret not preparing your house for spring!  The sooner you do it, the more time you get to enjoy outside!
