People Say This Is the Best Italian Sub in Illinois
Maybe I just missed a meal, but the pictures of the subs at this place are making my mouth water.
It could also be that a collective has said this is THE place to get an Italian Sub in Illinois.
Growing up on subs just like these, it’s been a while since I’ve had one that was totally memorable, and considering the restaurant my family used to pick up the sandwiches has been long closed, I didn’t think I’d ever get one as similar.
That was until today, when I saw Mashed drop a list, These Are The Best Italian Subs in Every US State, According To Reviews, and the choice for Illinois just about renewed my faith in sandwiches.
Called J.P. Graziano Grocery, these subs bring in people from far and wide. Mashed says they have “Long lines, big crowds, and the title of the best sandwich you'll ever eat."

Mr. G is the house specialty, and it's made with a base of provolone, hot soppressata, prosciutto, and Genoa salami. The toppings of signature truffle mustard balsamic vinaigrette, hot oil, marinated artichokes, fresh basil, lettuce, red wine vinegar, and oregano are what make it, though.
As amazing as it sounds, it will hurt your wallet. According to the Graziano Grocery website, a Mr. G costs $13.50, making it one of the most expensive sandwiches on the menu.

To be fair, it seems worth the money, as one reviewer said they “loved all the flavors and additions” and also called it “good value” for what you get.
Might be the next sandwich joint I check out. J.P. Graziano Grocery is located at 901 West Randolph Street in Chicago.
