The Beagles from Ridglan Farms

In March, the world learned about Ridglan Farms in Blue Mound, Wisconsin. This farm isn't for growing corn and raising cattle, it was a place that bread dogs, primarily beagles, and then sold them to animal testing labs to be test subjects.

Now, while that sounds terrible, that's not even the reason they're being shut down and around 1,500 beagles are being rescued from them. As WUWM writes,

The big complaints about Ridglan farms, and claims of mistreatment, don’t have to necessarily do with research going on in the facility. They have to do with how they took care of the dogs.

After animal activists broke in and rescued some dogs on March 15th, 2026 and more people attempted to break in to rescue thousands of more dogs (unsuccessfully), an agreement was made. Ridglan Farms will cease operation and sales July 1st, 2026 and 1,500 will be released.

That release process has begun and some of them have made their way to Rochester.

Camp Companion in Rochester, MN Takes in Ridglan Farms Beagles

On Sunday, Camp Companion shared that six beagles from Ridglan Farms have officially arrived.

A Camp Companion volunteer had been invited to help with the release of the dogs. Camp Companion writes,

Our volunteer helped load and unload dogs, prepare them for vet care, feed and water them, and ultimately help guide them toward their new lives.

They say that the dogs won't be available for adoption for a little while, but that they seem to be incredibly sweet.

All of these sweet pups will need some time as they decompress, receive necessary medical care, and learn how to simply be dogs and feel safe and trusting. We cannot wait to watch them blossom and discover the joy, comfort, and love they have always deserved.
