For way too many years, I took something in life for granted.  It wasn't until my dad called me and told me the news that he was diabetic did I really notice how I took "being healthy" for granted.  That diagnosis not only put a red flag on my own medical chart but it truly changed his quality of life moving forward.  Every other day, he spent a good chunk of hours hooked up to a dialysis machine as life continued on outside the clinic where he went for treatment.

Daily monitoring.  Insulin injections.  Dialysis appointments. Diet changes.  Life changed dramatically for him and our family once the word "diabetes" entered the picture.

I couldn't take the diagnosis away from him but I could show my support.  And one event that I found in Minnesota wasn't just helping raise funds and awareness about diabetes -  it was also a ton of fun for our family!  Plus, you can get dressed up if you want.  #LikeMyHat?

One of Minnesota's Largest Bike Rides is Back June 1st!

My dad isn't the only one who has had the word "diabetes" added to his medical chart.  1.2 million Americans each year are diagnosed with diabetes and face the challenges that come with it.

Just like I had a chance years ago to show support for my dad, you have that same opportunity to show support to those you know who are fighting this disease thanks to a huge bike riding event coming up on June 1st, 2024 in Minnesota, Tour de Cure!

Join the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis. Routes for all riders so you choose how you want to participate. And if you see someone with a red jersey that day, those are our red riders - people living with diabetes who are riding to help find a cure. Bring your family and join in on this full day of fun!
