Think Rochester Is Hot This Week? Try Baking Cookies In Your Car
Every summer, we all complain about the heat.
"It's too hot."
"I can't even walk outside."
But this week in Rochester, we're getting close to the kind of weather that makes me wonder...could we bake cookies in a car?

Is It Hot Enough In Rochester, Minnesota, That You Can Bake Cookies In Your Car?
A few years ago, when it was about 98 degrees outside, the Y-105FM team in Rochester bought a roll of cookie dough, and instead of turning on an oven, we used another tool...our station vehicle. #TrueStory

We got a baking tray, put the tray of cookies on it, parked the car in the blazing sun, rolled up the windows...and waited.
6 hours later...believe it or not, we had cookies. (We even had a kid taste-test them and caught their reaction on video.)

Challenge Is On - Let's Bake Cookies In Our Cars This Week, Southeast Minnesota!
We are right in the middle of another round of dangerously hot and humid weather. And if you are looking for something fun to do (and a little ridiculous), this week is perfect to try baking cookies in your car.
Here's how to join the challenge:
- Use refrigerated cookie dough (or if you have the ingredients, you can make the dough yourself)
- Get a clean baking sheet or oven-safe pan
- Spray the pan or grease it so the cookies don't stick
- Put the unbaked cookies on the baking sheet, just like you would do for the oven
- Place the baking sheet on your dashboard or another sunny spot inside your parked vehicle
- Keep your windows closed
- Check on the cookies every hour
- Take photos throughout the day. (if you touch the pan, please know it does get hot...you may want to have pot holders available)
- Show us the results and you could score some swag! Post your photos on Facebook or Instagram and tag us. (Y-105FM on Facebook is @Y105fmRoch and Y-105FM on Instagram is @y105fm)
