How Much Has the Cost of Girl Scout Cookies in Minnesota Increased Through The Years?

You see that little table set up outside of Walmart and Hy-Vee stores in Rochester, with the kids standing behind it and you don't even have to look at a sign to know what is happening.  These are Girl Scouts and they have your favorite cookie waiting for you to take home to enjoy...or eat in your car before your kids know that you bought a box.  They are some of the most loved cookies of all time, but do you know how much a box cost back in the 80's or even back at the start?

How much a box of Girl Scout cookies costs throughout the years

Spring is the time of year we see Girl Scouts out hustling hard to sell their scrumptious cookies. We all know that the price of a box has gone up, but do you know how much the price has increased? Thanks to finance.yahoo.com, we now know.

I haven't visited a booth yet this year but I did find the website where you can buy cookies online.  Looks like you can buy a box for $5 plus shipping and handling fees.  Before you have some sticker shock, I'll just warn you, shipping and handling is $14.99 for 1 to 8 boxes.  If you buy more than that, it goes down by 50%.

Is it "Samoa" or "Caramel Delight"?

I grew up in Iowa and I actually was a Girl Scout <<cough>> <<cough>> years ago.  I remember selling cookies and seeing smiles on faces when they finally got to enjoy their favorite cookie again.  I helped make that smile happen. 😉 When I moved to Minnesota though, something weird happened.  The name "Samoa" was gone and we were now calling my favorite cookies "Caramel Delights".   I was super confused why there was a different name but it sounds like there were some issues with different bakeries that are used for the cookies and as a result, names are different in some areas of our country.  Full story with all the info is here.
