As Southern Minnesota braced for a massive storm that dropped over a foot of snow in some areas and included a blizzard, a popular summer spot in Rochester made a huge announcement.

It was pretty ironic because this business actually sells Blizzards.

Yes, the day we have been waiting for is finally here.  One of the most historic Dairy Queens in Minnesota announced that it is open for the 2026 season.

A Rochester Favorite Is Now Open For The Season

I'm a huge fan of supporting local...and when you partner that statement with a place selling ice cream, I am all in.

Back on March 9th, I wrote the news that the North Broadway Dairy Queen in Rochester was teasing us with two new signs.  If you drove by their cute shop at 538 N Broadway Avenue the past few weeks, you probably saw signs that said:

1) "Opening Soon"

2) and a sign that said "now hiring"

As they shared on their North Broadway Dairy Queen Facebook page, they were "hard at work cleaning, prepping, and getting ready for the 2026 season".

Based on their latest announcement, the season for ice cream has started.

As I was in the middle of panic-buying milk and eggs before the storm hit, I noticed an exciting note on Facebook from the historic Dairy Queen on North Broadway in Rochester.
