The Faribault Falcons finished 19th with 19.50 points in Class 2A State boys track and field meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School.  Fridley was team champion with 59 points, Mankato East ended the meet with 57 points.

Winona finished 8th with 37, Mankato West was 14th, Stewartville 16th and Red Wing 17th, a half point better than Faribault.

The Falcons had some excellent accomplishments among the boys competition:

  • Barak Barner, Junior, 110 Meter Hurdles,  finished 3rd with time of 14.34 which was better than the Class 2A fastest record.  It was a fast field with the new record now held by the winner Corbin Herron, senior, St. Peter, 14.10.
  • Cristian Escobar, Senior, 300 Meter Hurdles, placed 5th with time of 38.96.
  • Aaron Plunkett, Junior, Did not advance to finals after finishing 17th fastest 41.81
  • 4x200 Meter Relay, Cullen Cox, Soph. Preston Berger, Senior, JJ Schrot, Junior, Cristian Escobar, Senior finished 9th.  Time 1:29.56.  The event was won by Mound-Westonka with time of 1:27.71
  • Cooper Leichtnam, Senior, Pole Vault, 4th place, 14' 0", (holds school record at  14'7")  Winner from Rockford cleared 15 feet 7 inches.
  • Nolan Vogelsberg, Junior, Pole Vault, got to finals and finished 13th at 12 ' 6"
  • 4x400 Meter Relay, JJ Schrot, Junior, Aaron Plunkett, Junior, Finn Larson, Junior, Cullen Cox, Sophomore finished 10th (one spot from medal)

Faribault Falcons State Class 2A Girls Track and Field results:  No points scored with no top 9 finishes, still competing at state is a great accomplishment.  Alexandria won the girls competition with 79 points, Monticello 68.5.  Mankato East was 4th, Mankato West 9th, Winona 11th, Byron 14th, Kasson-Mantorville 20th.
