MSVBCA Coaches Poll Week Six
There are just a couple weeks left of the Minnesota high school volleyball season. The Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association latest poll has some changes, but not at the very top.
Minneota, Southwest Christian sit atop the Class A and Class AA rankings, and Benilde-St. Margaret's and Eagan stayed at #1 in Class AAA and Class AAAA.
I scratch my bald head over some of the changes. Triton is still not among the top ten in Class AA despite only losing to one Minnesota school so far this season and that was a ranked Class AAA team in Kasson-Mantorville to start the season.
However Fillmore Central was placed at #2 in Class A, up from #4, leapfrogging Kenyon-Wanamingo who did not lose and went from #3 to #4. Russell -Tyler-Ruthton dropped from #2 to #3.
The Triton Cobras and Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights collide on the hardwood Tuesday, OCtober 13, 2026 in a match that will more than likely determine the Gopher Conference Championship.
The match will be broadcast on KDHL 920 AM, 97.9 FM and worldwide on the FREE to download KDHL app.
It has been moved up to a 5:45 p.m. first serve due to movement of the K-W football game to Tuesday night. The contest takes place at Triton High School.
Elsewhere in Class A, Cleveland elevates from #6 to #5 and square off with a very good Alden-Conger team Tuesday, October 13th at Alden.
Mabel-Canton was dropped from the top ten to Also Receiving Votes.
Class AA Belle Plaine and Dover-Eyota enter the top ten at #9 and #10 respectively. To make way for them Caledonia was dropped to Also Receiving Votes even after defeating Class AAA state rated Northfield.
The Warriors also fell to Class AAAA powers Eagan, Lakeville North and top ranked Class A Minneota at a tournament in Lakeville over the weekend..
Triton also remained in the Others Receiving Votes category as noted earlier.
Class AAA Northfield moved from #9 to #7 following an impressive win over then #9 AAAA Prior Lake and surpassed Stewartville in the poll.
The TIgers went from #7 to #8. Kasson-Mantorville is locked in at #10 with 5 losses so far this season.
Class AAAA one of the South Suburban Conference schools fell from the top ten to Others Receiving votes (Prior Lake) but four are among the top seven and the top two are South Suburban members (Eagan and Lakeville South).
