
Two People Killed in Rochester House Fire Friday Night
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Fire Department investigators are searching for the cause of a fire that claimed the lives of two people in Rochester Friday night.
According to a fire department news release, the fire was reported at a large single-family residence at 822 Fox Point Lane Southwest around 10:15 p.m. Responding firefighters arrived on scene and observed heavy smoke coming from the garage on the main floor of the home, with flames visible along the roofline near the rear of the house.
Victims Found in Garage
The statement says firefighters began battling the flames from both the interior and exterior of the home while a search of the residence was underway. A search team located two adult victims in the garage.
Both individuals were removed from the burning structure, and life-saving efforts were attempted by firefighters, police, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance personnel. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their names have not been released. The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiners Office has been assigned to determine the cause of death.
The fire department reported that firefighters extinguished the fire after locating it in the garage and attic spaces of the home. The news release does not include a damage estimate but indicates there was significant damage to the garage and attic.
Cause of Fire Still Unknown
Because fatalities were involved, the State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting the Rochester Fire Department with the investigation.
