Sheriff’s Office Releases Name of Century Student Killed in Crash
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the young victim of a three-vehicle crash just north of Rochester on Saturday.
16-year-old Davin Tukua was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash at the intersection of North Broadway and Woodridge Lane Northeast shortly before 2:30 PM. The Sheriff's Office says the initial reports on the crash indicate Tukua was driving south on Broadway when his vehicle went over the center line and collided with a northbound vehicle, which was then struck by another northbound vehicle.
The teenage motorist had to be extricated from the wreckage and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff's Office reported the two other drivers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Davin was a student at Century High School, which hosted its Homecoming Dance Saturday evening. Rochester Public Schools Superintendent Kent Pekel issued a statement Saturday announcing the dance would go on as planned despite the tragedy. Pekel indicated that counselors and other trained staff would be on hand to assist any students in need of support.
A member of the Tukua family has launched a GoFundMe site to raise funds to cover funeral-related expenses and support Davin's parents.
