Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester attorney today announced her candidacy for Minnesota's First District Congressional seat now held by Republican Brad Finstad.

Rachel Bohman is running as a Democrat and says her campaign will run on a platform of "shared prosperity for Southern Minnesota communities."

“I’m proud to be raising my family here in Southern Minnesota. We are so fortunate to have great schools, safe communities, and wonderful neighbors. I also recognize this moment presents unique challenges for those of us who call it home,” Bohman said on Tuesday. “I believe this district is ready for compassionate leadership that recognizes that the country works best when it works together. I am committed to bringing home results for everyone in Southern Minnesota.”

A news release announcing her candidacy says Bohman is a former member of the Rochester Township Board. It also states that she lives in Rochester with her husband and two daughters.

Finstad is in his first full term as a US Congressman. He was elected in a special election to fill the position following the death of Republican Congressman Jim Hagedorn and was elected to represent southern Minnesota in the U.S. House over Democrat Jeff Ettinger in 2022. The former Hormel CEO is currently serving as the interim president of the University of Minnesota.
