The detour was part of a project to resurface Hwy. 61 in Goodhue County. The work began in July. Earlier this week MnDOT announced the detour for Hwy. 61 from Red Wing to Lake City has been removed.

Officials say crews will still be working in that stretch. The finishing touches of the project include “final paving and installation of guardrails, lighting, seeding, pavement markings/striping, rumble strips and aggregate shouldering,” a MnDOT news release says.

Drivers are advised to watch for flaggers controlling traffic through certain stretches of the work zone. Officials say short traffic delays are still possible.

The $8.6 million resurfacing project is set to be completed by November.
