(UPDATE) Body Found Behind Byron City Hall
Byron, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a body has been found near Byron City Hall.
The remains were discovered this afternoon in a retention pond behind the Byron city offices at 680 Byron Main Court Northeast on the east edge of the community of 6500 people. A spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office says deputies went to check the pond after a citizen reported hearing a suspicious noise several nights ago.
A team from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will assist in the investigation and the Southern Minnesota Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to identify the remains and determine the cause of death.
There is speculation the deceased person could be a Rochester man who has been missing since July 7th. 39-year-old Wade Gordon Junior was last seen walking away from his place of employment on the west side of Byron, about 2 miles from the retention pond where the body was found today.
Earlier this afternoon, the Sheriff's Office posted a message on social media asking people to stay away from Byron City Hall. The posting did not give a reason for the large law enforcement presence but did say there was no threat to the public.

The posting only says the request is due to law enforcement activity near the facility and that there is no threat to the public. The Byron city offices are located at 680 Byron Main Court Northeast on the east edge of the community of about 6500 people on the west side of Olmsted County.
The Sheriff's Office has not yet released information concerning the reason for the request and the large law enforcement presence at the site, but there are unconfirmed reports that it is due to a death investigation.
