One of my favorite hometown restaurants has just added a brand-new item to the menu. If customers love it, it might become a permanent addition to an already mouthwatering lineup that keeps people coming back again and again.

That place? Merlin's Family Restaurant in Princeton, Minnesota.

A COMMUNITY GATHERING PLACE

Merlin's Family Restaurant in Princeton has been a community gathering place for as long as I can remember. It’s the kind of place where families meet up for weekend breakfasts, friends grab a table to catch up over coffee, and regulars walk in knowing exactly what they’re going to order before they even sit down.

THE CRAVINGS COME OFTEN WHEN YOU'VE BEEN TO MERLIN'S

For me, the cravings usually hit when I start thinking about their fluffy, delicious pancakes that fill my plate. And if I’m really lucky, I get there early enough to grab one of those legendary caramel rolls that seem to disappear almost as soon as they hit the display case. (If you’ve ever been lucky enough to snag one, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Finding one still sitting in the dessert case when you’re paying your bill feels a little like winning the lottery.)

SPECIAL LIMITED-TIME MENU AVAILABLE ALONGSIDE REGULAR MENU

Recently, the restaurant rolled out a special limited-time menu alongside its regular offerings. The idea is to give customers a chance to try some new creations and flavors, and if one really stands out, it could earn a permanent place on the menu.

One of the new items currently getting attention is something called 'Connor’s Coconut Chicken Curry'.

CONNOR'S COCONUT CHICKEN CURRY

Connor's Coconut Chicken Curry is described as a slow-cooked coconut chicken curry served over a bed of rice and French fries. Yes… You read that right. French fries and curry together. It might sound a little unexpected at first, but if it tastes as good as it sounds, it could easily become one of those dishes people start requesting again and again.

The fun part about this new limited-time menu is that customers actually get a say in what stays. The team at Merlin’s wants feedback from the people who eat there. If diners love something, there’s a good chance it could become the next permanent favorite on the menu.

LIMITED-EDITION MENU ITEMS AVAILABILITY?

I called them and asked how long 'Connor's Coconut Chicken Curry' would be available, and they told me PROBABLY through March, but who knows? Only their customers will make the decision on whether it stays for good.

Merlin’s Family Restaurant is open every day from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., serving breakfast and lunch favorites that have kept locals coming back for years. Along with the new rotating menu items, you’ll still find all the classics that people know and love.

IF YOU WERE LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT EXCUSE TO VISIT

If you’ve never stopped in before, this might be the perfect excuse to give it a try. The restaurant offers plenty of seating, a welcoming atmosphere, and a staff that treats customers like neighbors rather than just another table.

You’ll find Merlin’s conveniently located right where Highway 169 and County Road 95 meet, in the same area as Walmart and Aldea.

And if you do stop in and try one of the new menu items, don’t forget to tell them what you think. Your feedback might help decide the next dish that becomes a permanent part of Merlin’s menu.
