Random Thoughts On 2025 Grandma’s Marathon Weekend
Another Grandma's Marathon weekend is in the books. It is my very favorite weekend in Duluth. The energy is unmatched.
I love seeing people come from all over the world and stand in awe of our little city and how beautiful and fun it is.

It was definitely one to remember. The races were delayed thirty minutes because of severe storms that moved in overnight and heat advisories started in the afternoon.
The weather was definitely not cooperative whatsoever but it wouldn't be Duluth if we didn't experience a handful of different weather events in the span of one day, right?
Some Random Thoughts About 2025 Grandma's Marathon Weekend
For the first time in a few years, I took on the William A. Irvin 5K. It was at a different time this year - in the afternoon! - and I thought the energy was incredible. There were so many spectators and that was surprising since it was the middle of the afternoon.

I liked the new time and thought it worked well. Right after, Bayfront Festival Park was packed and I think the new time gave everyone, including people that traveled to Duluth for the races, time to have some fun instead of going to bed to rest up for the next day.
The snacks after the 5K and the half were so good. They might have been the same as last year but I was so hungry this year, I couldn't help but rave about them. Ha! Obviously, the weather was not ideal.

The humidity was absolutely brutal but what got me through was all the hilarious signs that never cease to make me laugh, the fun snacks along the route and all the spectators. The spectators and volunteers are by far my favorite part of the race weekend.
I also have to give kudos to the Grandma's team who handled the weather delay swiftly. It was so organized and easy to understand that I didn't panic about a delay like I usually would.
Those are some random thoughts that popped into my head. I am already counting down the days until next year!
