Remember That Time Duluth Got A Shoutout On Law + Order?
I am the biggest fan of Law & Order in any way, shape or form so I was so excited when I saw this! Shout out to my fellow Duluthian who noticed this and shared with others in the community.
You have to go back a long time to catch this and I am not quite there in the show yet. An old episode of the hit show threw Duluth some shade and it is absolutely hilarious. I love it so much.

This isn't the first time that the franchise has acknowledged Minnesota but it might be the only time it acknowledged the Zenith City. Ha! In fact, Law & Order: SVU has even had a Minnesota-fail in a recent season.
Maybe one of the writers has some love for Minnesota or maybe we are just easy to tease. Either way, I will never be mad when we get some recognition from such an iconic show!
Remember When This Iconic Show Dissed Duluth?
The mention happened in season eight, which aired in 1998! I was only six so I did not see this in real time. Ha! The episode in question is called Blood. In this episode, two members of the crew are investigating the death of a new mother, along with the disappearance of her baby.

As always in these shows, they are looking into the husband and the possible role he may have played in it. I won't give any spoilers in case you haven't seen it just yet. (Although, you are decades late to the party like I am if so.)
In the episode, they are talking about a lawyer named Shawn Taitt. His colleagues got sick of his attitude and decided to give him an unusual punishment. What was it? Oh, just dealing with a Duluth winter.
THROWBACK: Duluthian Lands Guest Role On 'SVU'
Yup, according to the dialogue in the episode, the move to Duluth was seem as a promotion at the time but really, they knew what they were doing. They knew that one winter would not be fun and would definitely get someone to clean up their act if needed.
Josh promoted him to our office in Duluth. One sub-zero winter, and Taitt got the idea. He quit.
Definitely check out the episode if you haven't already! I started watching the reboot of Law & Order and then am going to go back and start from the beginning. After watching clips of this episode, I can't wait to get to season eight.
Or you could just watch the 24/7 Law & Order channel. Someone definitely had me in mind when they came up with that!
