How Is SE Minnesota Doing With The New Hands-Free Law?
It's been roughly 3 weeks since the hands-free law took effect in Minnesota. But how many citations were handed out in that first week here in Southeastern Minnesota? Not as many as you might think. A total of 84 citations were written in SE Minnesota in that first week with a majority of those written coming out of Dakota County.
According to an article from Fox 9 News, 71% of the citations written here in SE Minnesota came from Dakota County. Scott County, Rice County, and Olmsted were the next highest cited counties in our area. No hands-free citations were reported that first week of August (1-7) in Steele, Dodge, LeSueur, or Waseca Counties.
