Hot Shooting Leads Spring Grove Past Lanesboro
With the regular season winding down, the Spring Grove Lions and the Lanesboro Burros were looking to put their best foot forward with playoffs right around the corner. The Lions were able to get hot from the field and run away with a 74-39 win.
The Spring Grove Lions hot out of the gate, building a 14-4 lead early. Alex Folz was great from the beyond the arc, connecting on nine three-point shots for a team-high 35. Caden Grinde added 12, including a huge dunk that drew a foul. He connected on the and-one opportunity in the first half that really gave the Lions some energy.
Lanesboro was led by Sawyer Johnson, the sophomore hit four three-pointers en route to his 12 points on the evening, while senior Carson Schwichtenberg added 9 points in the loss for the Burros.
The Lions started to stretch away in the first half, building a 48-27 lead at the break. Spring Grove's defense started to take over in the second half, while Lanesboro did a great job of getting good looks, they just struggled to hit shots in the second half.
With the win, Spring Grove extended their SEC win streak to 75 games.
