Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - New speed limit signs are being placed along another stretch of highway in southeastern Minnesota this week.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says once the new signs are in place, the speed limit for Highway 52 from the Iowa border to just south of the I-90 interchange will increase from 55 to 60 miles per hour. MnDOT has been adjusting speed limits on two-lane highways throughout Minnesota since 2014 when state lawmakers directed the agency to evaluate the roadways and determine whether speed limits could be increased both reasonably and safely.

Last month, the speed limit was increased to 60 miles per hour in most areas along Highway 63 from the Iowa border to Lake City.
