Giant Duck Unleashed, On the Loose in Des Moines

It's been fairly windy across southeast Minnesota recently, and apparently, that wind also made its way down I-35 into Des Moines where it shook loose a giant inflatable duck over the weekend.

Yes, that's right, the video below clearly shows a giant, inflatable duck terrorizing an Iowa road in Des Moines. According to this BringMeTheNews story, Iowa resident Marc Wallace "caught the quacky scene on video and it's gone viral with nearly 400,000 views," last week, the story said, with probably even more by now.

The story went on to say that the inflatable duck was all a part of a festival designed to raise money for a local non-profit, "apparently part of Duck Moines' YESS Duck Derby, which raises money for Iowa's Youth Emergency Services & Shelter (YESS), a network that provides care to kids in need," the story said.

No word on where the duck actually ended up, though. (The winds were probably blowing it eastward toward Illinois, not that it made it that far, though, I'm guessing.)

It reminds me of three years ago when Rochester hosted the Red Ball Project. (Remember that giant, inflatable red ball that made appearances at various Rochester landmarks? Check it out HERE.) Well, shortly after it left the Med City, it made an appearance in Toledo, Ohio, where it ALSO broke loose and was spotted rolling down the street-- much like this Iowa duck.

Fortunately, no one was injured in either case. (I think...)
