The Lake City Tigers used a fast start to get past the Chatfield Gophers Friday night at Chatfield High School. The Tigers came away with a 50-32 win.

Lake City jumped out to a 13-1 lead, utilizing their height advantage with Grace Bany and Mya Shones. Shones was fantastic early, getting many looks near the rim and knocking them down, and finishing with a game-high 17 points. Bany, finished with eight, and her ability to work with Shones in the high and low post was a key to the Tigers success.

The Gophers struggled from the field early but were able to cut the lead back down to five, 13-8, but the Tigers answered with a run of their own to push the lead back to double digits.

Belle Berg was the key for the Gophers, as she facilitated the offense, and attacked the rim aggressively, finishing with a team-high 12 points. The Gophers struggled to get into a flow offensively, as the Tigers did a great job of extending pressure onto the Gopher ball handlers.

The Tigers took a 26-15 lead into the break, and never relinquished the lead. They slowed the pace down, locked down defensively, and made it difficult for the Gophers to cut into the lead.

Shelby Isensee was great for the Gophers, as she cleaned up the glass, and added in nine points. She had no fear defensively, creating turnovers and jump balls. The Gophers just couldn't cut out of a shooting slump that put them in an early hole.
