Did You Know About a Secret 2nd Verse to This Famous Christmas Song?
I'm still blown away how I never knew about this... until today!
I've mentioned it before, but I work part-time at Target. It's a seasonal gig, and I love it. But as I'm wandering the sales floor today and dodging eager shoppers snatching up clearance Christmas decorations and the like, I came across a mother and her two kids.
They're both still in great spirits, no doubt having been rewarding by Santa the day before and they were singing a pretty familiar Christmas song as they walked along the shopping cart:
Jingle bells, Batman smells
Robin laid an egg
Batmobile lost a wheel
And the Joker got away... Hey!
Laughing to myself, I muttered "What a classic!"... but then to my surprise, they kept going into a SECOND VERSE:
Batman’s in the kitchen
Robin’s in the hall
Joker’s in the bathroom
Peeing on the wall... Hey!
OK, now wait a minute!
I don't want to take anything away from these kids, but I'm pretty sure they didn't come up with this verse on their own. I mean, am I the only one who didn't know this existed?!
Sometime in the past 36 years of my life, I failed to learn it and I'm extremely disappointed in myself.
So if you grew up with Joker peeing on the wall, please let me know, including where you learned it!
