Did Southeast Minnesota Break a Low Temperature Record?
It was a cold one on April 27th, 2017. It seemed weird, as we just had a day where we saw temperatures near or at 70 degrees. A couple days later, it is near the freezing point.
How is that even possible?
I am just glad that we didn't break the record for the minimum temperature on April 27th in Southeast Minnesota's history. We saw a low near 32 degrees today in Preston, according to Weather Underground, but that is not even close to how bad it really has been.
Back in 1933, Preston reached a record low of 19 degrees.
Now if it was January, us Minnesotans wouldn't think anything of it. In fact, we would be pretty happy to see the temperature reach 19 degrees. At the end of April? No thank you!
There are many things I would rather have than 19 degrees in April here in Minnesota. So, I am pretty happy to see that Southeast Minnesota didn't break any records in terms of coldness this year.
On the other side, the warmest April 27th has ever gotten was a balmy 86 degrees. Only in Minnesota will you see a difference like that!
