Are you sick of generic "get to know you" questions for first dates and you live in SE Minnesota? Good! Then this story is for you.

Whether you're looking for your first serious relationship, or just ended your third marriage and think you'd be happier being married to a Platypus, I've come up with a simple way to make dating in and around Minnesota a LOT easier.

From Rochester to Warroad, and everywhere in between, Minnesotans have to get to know a lot about people before they'll go out on a first date. Mostly because it's so blasted cold and snowy, you really have to WANT to see the person to get all dressed up in winter gear.

There are plenty of "icebreaker" books out there, but none of them capture what it's like to live in SE Minnesota. So I put together a quick little gallery to help you get to really know your prospective mate.

16 Dating Icebreakers for SE Minnesotans Only

"Hi, how you doin'?" has seen its last days as a useful way to get to know people, because we all assume you just mean, "Hi!" If you're back in the dating world, you may want something spiffier, like those awful icebreakers you did when you were young, or have to do in meetings, but geared toward dating.

I did all the hard work, now you just need to try them out. WARNING: If you're in Iowa, these may confuse more than intrigue the person on the other end of the message...so use caution outside of SE Minnesota.

Now it's up to you!

I've given you the tools, now it's up to you. Ask the questions, and listen to the answers. Are they oddballs that'll make your life miserable? Then move on and find someone way cooler.

As always, if you have a comment, complaint, or concern about something I wrote here, please let me know: james.rabe@townsquaremedia.com

Last week we learned not to use these kinda profile pics.

Not saying you're bad if you do one of these, you're just not getting as good a reception as you might think.

LOOK: MN Women to MN Men, Please Stop Putting These 10 Pictures In Your Dating Profile

A new poll says the majority of women are not interested in these 10 kinds of photos men include in their dating profiles. Obviously, some people will love the photos, but on the whole, these ten are not helping you get dates (though they may help you get a tickle fight or two (rawr!).
