Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News) - Dakota County is among the Twin Cities suburbs that have joined Minneapolis and St. Paul by issuing night time curfews to help lower the risk of property damage in the wake of the rioting that has devastated areas in Minnesota's largest cities this week.

The Chair of the Dakota Board today issued a local emergency declaration that runs from 8 PM through 6 AM Friday and Saturday nights. The curfew prohibits anyone from traveling on public roads and public property with exceptions for individuals driving to and from work, seeking emergency medical care, fleeing dangerous situations, or experiencing homelessness.

Dakota County officials say the far southern Twin Cities suburb has not been immune from the violence and damage that has followed the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. A news release says the Dakota County Service Center in Apple Valley has been vandalized and there has been other damage reported in Eagan and West. St. Paul.
