The Covid-19 Pandemic has hurt people in many ways. Some thru the virus, others...many others, the damage has come by way of the steps taken to keep the majority of people safe from the Coronavirus.

One group that's been hurt are renters and another is landlords. "No eviction" rules meant lost revenue for many landlords. The renter still owes the money, so they know that bill will come due and will likely be beyond their means.

Olmsted County released news today that help is on the way.

"The new rental assistance program is called COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance, which is operating under the banner of RentHelpMN. It will help eligible renters with overdue rent since April 2020, up to three months of upcoming rent at a time, and related utility payments. The program will be open for applications in the coming weeks."

Who counts as eligible renters? That's households that earned 80% of less of area median income in 2020 or the most recent month.
