Coffee Shop Will Allow Customers To Order In Sign Language
One of the major coffee shops in the world is set to open the first "
Signing Store" in the U.S.
That is right, Starbucks annouced yesterday that they will open its first American "Signing Store" where they plan to hire 20-25 employees who are proficient in Sign Language. This will allow deaf individuals to step up to the counter knowing they can communicate easily and effectively, according to CBS News.
Rossann Williams, Starbucks executive vice president of U.S. Retail said in an online statement:
"This is a historic moment in Starbucks ongoing journey to connect with the Deaf and hard of hearing community, hire and engage Deaf and hard of hearing partners, and continue to find ways to be more inclusive, accessible and welcoming to all."
Starbucks even dropped something on Twitter to let everyone know it was coming soon!
The first store will open in Washington D.C, and then the company will go from there.
Way to go, Starbucks. Hopefully, they bring one to Minnesota soon!
