Chatfield Man Smashes Into Two RPD Squads With Stolen Truck
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Chatfield man is facing a long list of serious criminal charges after putting two Rochester police cars out of commission and leading officers on a chase through a residential neighborhood.
The incident began around 5:00 AM Saturday when a patrol officer discovered a stolen pickup truck behind a home in the 200 block of 11th Ave NE.
The officer saw a man get into the truck and drive off and other officers put down stop sticks at the 11th Ave/7th St NE intersection. One of the truck’s rear tires went flat after the man drove over the stop sticks but he kept going until he reached a dead end on 12th Ave NE. The man put the truck in reverse and rammed two squad cars that had pulled up behind him. He struck a power pole as he began driving away and made his way back to 11th Ave and eventually headed east on Viola Road.
He crashed several blocks later and was taken into custody without incident. The man was identified as 29-year-old Scott Tester. No injuries were reported. The truck was stolen from Dodge County.
Tester was charged in November with stealing a vehicle that was idling at a Rochester convenience store. A surveillance camera at the store led to his arrest.
