Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) -The "Legal Eagle" has passed away.

David Shulman, who along with his wife Carole, became nationally known through their involvement in figure skating, died February 11th following a two-decade battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 85 years old.

David's achievements during his well-lived life were many and broad. I knew of many of them, but certainly not all of them. Please take the time to read his obituary by clicking on the link below to learn more about this Rochester man's amazing life.

David Shulman Obituary

On a personal level, I first encountered David Shulman during one of my many visits to the Olmsted County Courthouse as part of my duties as a member of the KROC-AM news team. Of course, David was there to provide aid legal representation to one of his many clients.

A bit over 20 years ago, he agreed to join me and Tracy McCray to launch the "Legal Eagle Show" on News Talk 1340 KROC-AM. David would visit the studio at least once a month to share information about important legal issues, ranging from estate planning to adoption and property disputes. He would also focus on making sure listeners were aware of their legal rights and would converse with the many callers to the show about their legal challenges. While he was not able to provide specific legal advice, David would share his knowledge about the processes and legal terminology the caller would likely encounter while resolving their issues. For many, it was invaluable information.

During the commercial and news breaks in the "Legal Eagle Show," David and I would chat about just about anything. He would often linger after the show and regale me with stories about his experiences or dive into deep discussions about philosophical, legal, or moral dilemmas. For more than 20 years, I looked forward to it every month.

It was an honor to work with David and to be able to call him a friend. I already miss him greatly and I know the entire KROC-AM community will miss him as well.

According to the obituary, David's family will host a visitation at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home from 4-7 PM on March 4. A celebration of life will take place March 5 at 10 AM at Rochester Covenant Church.

All 37 Minnesota Restaurants that Have Been Featured on the Food Network

Many Minnesota restaurants have been featured on the Food Network over the years. Some have closed now, but I checked out the Food Networks website, the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives website, and TVFoodMaps.com to find all of the Minnesota restaurants that have been featured on their channel in the past and found these 37 (in no particular order) that are still open.
