Heartbreaking news announcing the closing for a popular spot in Southeast Minnesota popped up on Facebook on Thursday, July 28th.

Popular Dairy Queen Closing in Southeast Minnesota

A sad message was written on the Cannon Falls Dairy Queen Facebook page announcing the news that they are closing forever.  Their last day serving up cones at 31943 64th Ave. and all of the frozen treats will be on Sunday, July 31st.

Hi, DQ family—
Unfortunately, we have to share some disappointing news with you all. Starting Monday, August 1, CF DQ will be permanently closed, and a new business will be taking over. Thus, DQ’s last day ever in Cannon Falls will be Sunday, July 31.

We are extremely sorry for the short notice and abrupt ending to this place, but our staff was just informed about this ordeal two days ago and had to wait to share this information until the closure was made official. Again, we are truly sorry for the inconvenience, and we acknowledge how shocking and sad this news is for the town and surrounding communities.

Endings are never easy. And, saying goodbye to a place where so many kids grew up and learned basic life skills, while having fun with their friends, is never fun. But, our business quite frankly was struggling to keep its doors open, so even though we are sad to leave a place that makes “happy taste good,” we want to welcome the new business into town with open arms and wish them the best of luck with their future endeavors in this small little town, that so many of us call home... - Cannon Falls Dairy Queen Facebook page
