It was a pitchers duel that turned into late-inning heroics as Caledonia/Spring Grove took down Fillmore Central/Lanesboro 3-2 in 8 innings Thursday night in Caledonia.

Trailing 1-0 in the 7th inning, Lydia Lange hit a flyball to center field that dropped and allowed Amber Stemper to score and tie the game at 1.

In the 8th, the Falcons were able to get one run across when Daysha Erickson walked to start the inning, followed by a walk to Lauren Mensink. KJ Corson then drove in Erickson to make it 2-1.

Caledonia/Spring Grove then capitalized on a lead-off single from Kiley Meyer in the bottom of the 8th. With the bases loaded it was Lange again who delivered a two-out RBI single to walk off the Falcons and secure a 3-2 win.

Krista Jorgenson took the loss for FC/L but the pitcher was great, allowing just the 3 runs, two of them earned and struck out seven in the loss. Grace Privet picked up the win for Caledonia/Spring Grove while Katie Tornstrom got the start. She allowed one FC/L run in her 7+ innings of work and struck out six.

The Falcons got the lead in the third after Hannah Storlie led off the inning with a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on an error.

Caledonia/Spring Grove was able to battle back and get the win in extra innings.
