Austin, MN (KROC AM News) - Austin police officers were sent to a neighborhood near a school Thursday to check a report of possible gunshots.
The call came in around 1:00 pm from the 600 block of 9th St. NW, which is about two blocks from Sumner Elementary School.
Police Chief David McKichan says officers ”did not locate any damage, any victims, or shell casings.” McKichan says the officers “were not able to locate anyone who might have seen something that would help us better understand what may have occurred.”
McKichan says the school was placed in a short-term lockdown as a precaution.
Anyone who may have witnessed anything or had gun-related property damage is asked to contact the Austin PD.
