Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester School Board could take action tonight on a resolution concerning the hiring of a new superintendent.

The agenda for this evening's meeting includes a possible vote on contracting with the Minnesota School Boards Association to hire an interim superintendent to take over the leadership position after the resignation of Superintendent Michael Munoz takes effect at the end of June. The School Board last week appeared to reach a consensus that a temporary superintendent should be hired while the search for a permanent successor to Munoz is conducted.

The School Board could also act tonight on a recommendation to have staff put together a request for proposals from consulting firms that specialize in helping school districts identify qualified superintendent candidates. At this point, a timeline for the search process has not been established.

Munoz recently announced his resignation amid allegations involving plagiarism. He agreed to continue on as the Rochester School District Superintendent until June 30th to give the school board time to hire his replacement and make a smooth transition.
