La Crosse, WI (KROC AM News) - It will be a wet and cold start to the Memorial Day weekend, the traditional kickoff to the summer season in Minnesota.

And while rain is expected in Minnesota, up to half an inch of snow could fall in parts of Wisconsin.

Rain is expected across southeast Minnesota through Friday with possible totals of 1 to 1.5 inches in some areas.

The rain is expected to gradually end Friday. There will be slight chances for rain Sunday and Monday.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid to upper 30s Friday and Saturday mornings before warmer weather returns Saturday afternoon.

The wet and cool weather is also expected in western Wisconsin.

In fact, very light snow might be spotted Thursday evening in parts of northern Wisconsin. There will also be a threat of frost across northeast Minnesota and northern Wisconsin.
