Last night, KFIL broadcasted the Three Rivers boy's basketball game between Caledonia and Rushford-Peterson. Even before the big showdown, it was a big day for Warriors sports fans. The Caledonia/Houston Warriors had won the Section 1A Team Wrestling title earlier in the day- their first state team trip since 1984!

Back to basketball. After a short stint of adjusting to the opponent, Caledonia put together a couple runs in the first half of 10-3 and 11-0, distancing themselves from R-P to a 44-26 halftime lead. The Warriors were even more impressive in the start of the second half, using a 16-2 run to push the lead to 32. The R-P Trojans could never find an offensive groove, and Caledonia was on most of the night. The final score was 77-40, as The Warriors shot close to 61 percent from the floor. Both teams were able to play every dressed player on the night, and most importantly, came away healthy with the playoffs beginning next week.

The “Player of the Game” awards went to Colton Lampert of the Warriors, who was white hot, missing only one shot I believe, and ending with 23 points, 3 steals, and 2 assists, and Keean Benson of the Trojans. Keenan, a senior who notched his only start of the year to this point, scored the first bucket for R-P, and ended with 8 points, and assist, and a steal.

The “Game Ball” was awarded to Gavin Schroeder of Caledonia. Gavin tallied 11 points, including a high-flying dunk on an alley-ooo pass from Lampert, and played great defense, denying the passes into R-P's 6'8" center Matt Culhane.

Next week brings a smorgasbord of action! Monday GBB Spring Grove at Mabel-Canton 7pm KFIL, Tuesday GBB Chatfield at Southland on Cool 104 and Kingsland at St. Charles on KFIL- both 7:15p.
