Wallethub.com put out a list of the best places to celebrate the fourth of July holiday. Out of 100 best and worst places, two Minnesota cities made the list. Minneapolis just missed the top 10 at No. 11 and St. Paul is at No. 29.

The top 10 best cities were:

  1. Atlanta
  2. San Francisco
  3. Buffalo, N.Y.
  4. Washington, D.C.
  5. San Diego
  6. Madison, Wis.
  7. St. Louis
  8. Milwaukee
  9. Orlando
  10. Seattle

According to their report, here are some facts and figures about the holiday:

  • Americans will spend about $7.15 billion on food
  • We will spend about $1.6 billion on beer and wine. (Now with Minnesota liquor stores being able to be open on Sunday, we may bump the numbers a bit ... you never know.)
  • $800+ million will be spent on fireworks. Side note: 67 percent of fireworks injuries occur with in a month of July 4.
  • 44.2 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles or more for the holiday.

Just be safe. Don't drink and drive (there will be some extra enforcement), and use common sense with fireworks.
