There are a lot of trees and plants that are growing in southeast Minnesota right now, including a few that shouldn't be here-- like this invasive plant I just spotted.
The western prickly pear can grow to be close to a foot tall, and its defining features are broad and flat growths, that bloom yellow flowers from late June to early July.
