It was another busy Friday night of High School football across southeast Minnesota with two rematches of last season's Section Title games, some shootouts, and more.

Fillmore Central Takes Down Rushford-Peterson 33-13

In a rematch of last season's Section 1A Championship, which the Trojans won 7-0, the Falcons were able to use their aerial attack to run passed Rushford-Peterson Friday night. We had the action on FUN 104 and it started with the Falcons finding the paydirt when Dillion O'Connor connected with Luke Hellickson in the 1st quarter for a 23-yard touchdown.

The Trojans came back on their next drive to tie the game on a 1-yard run by Riley Tesch. On the Falcons' next play from scrimmage, the snap went over O'Connor's head and the Trojans recovered the fumble in the endzone to make it 13-7 in favor of R-P.

The Falcons responded and scored twice before the end of the half as O'Connor connected with Byrce Coron and Jayce Kienhe to give the Falcons a 20-13 lead at the half.

Fillmore Central scored on its second play from scrimmage in the 3rd quarter when O'Connor threw his fourth touchdown pass of the day to Chase Christianson for a 57-yard touchdown.

Corson was able to find the endzone one more time on the ground as the Falcons took a 33-13 lead and eventually the win.

Fillmore Central moved to 2-0 on the season and will take on Hayfield (0-2) at home next week. Rushford-Peterson fell to 1-1 and will take on Kenyon-Wanamingo (2-0) next week on the road.

Cannon Falls Tops PEM 24-18

In a rematch of last season's Section 1AAA Championship that PEM won 21-18. This time, it was the Cannon Falls Bombers (2-0) getting the victory. PEM (1-1) will take on Triton (1-1) next week while the Bombers battle Zumbrota-Mazeppa (0-2).

Spring Grove Takes Down Lyle-Pacelli 48-20

The Spring Grove offense was great again and has put up 108 points in their first two games of the season. There was a brief lightning delay, but the Lions were able to come out of the delay and get the win. The Lions (2-0) will take on Mabel-Canton (2-0) next week. Lyle-Pacelli (0-2) will take on Cedar Mountain next week.

Chatfield Beats Dover-Eyota 42-19

The Chatfield Gopher utilized big plays en route to a 42-19 win over Dover-Eyota. The Gophers (2-0) will take on St. Charles (0-2) next week. While Dover-Eyota (1-1) will take on Caledonia (2-0).

Grand Meadow Tops Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda 36-6

The Superlarks were able to bounce back from a Week 1 loss to Lanesboro to even their record at 1-1 with a strong win on the road over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda. The Superlarks will take Houston (0-1 played Kingsland Saturday) on the road next week.

Lanesboro Takes Down Southland 30-14

The Lanesboro Burros used a strong ground game to take down the Southland Rebels Friday night. The strong ground game has been a theme for Lanesboro as they move to 2-0 on the season. The Burros will take on LeRoy-Ostrander (1-1) next week. Southland will battle Kingsland, and we will have the action on FUN 104.

Mabel-Canton Beats LeRoy-Ostrander 46-30

The Mabel-Canton Cougars moved to 2-0 on the season with a win over LeRoy-Ostrander. The Cougars used a strong ground game and scored on their first five possessions of the night. M-C will take on Spring Grove (2-0) on the road next week while LeRoy-Ostrander will battle Lanesboro.

Rochester Mayo Tops Northfield 35-6

Rochester Mayo continued its strong start to the season with a big win over Northfield in Week 2 action. The Spartans will look to keep it going as they take on Rochester Century (0-2) in a cross-town matchup. Northfield (1-1) will take on Rochester John Marshall.

Bethlehem Academy Knocks Off Hayfield 24-18

Faribault BA used strong defense to knock off the Vikings in Week 2. Hayfield had 1st and goal with a minute left in the game but the Cardinals were able to hold on to win. Bethlehem Academy (1-1) will take on Randolph next week while the Vikings (0-2) will travel to Harmony and take on Fillmore Central.

Goodhue Beats Triton 28-20

The Goodhue Wildcats picked up their first win of the season with a close victory over Triton. Goodhue will battle Lewiston-Altura (0-2) in Week 3 action. Triton (1-1) will take on PEM (1-1)

Byron Wins Close Battle with Faribault 21-20

The Byron Bears were able to hold on and take down the Faribault Falcons in a tight Section 1AAAA battle. The Bears moved to 2-0 on the season while Faribault fell to 1-1. Byron will take on Winona (1-1) next week while the Falcons will take on Stewartville (2-0) at home.

Stewartville Beats Albert Lea 71-7

Stewartville (2-0) scored on offense, defense, and special teams en route to the win over Albert Lea (0-2). Stewartville will take on Faribault next week while Albert Lea will battle Red Wing (0-1 plays Mankato East Saturday).

Rochester Lourdes Beats St. Charles 24-7

Rochester Lourdes' defense was stout against a tough St. Charles rushing attack in a 24-7 win. The Eagles (1-1) will take on Pine Island next week while St. Charles (0-2) will battle Chatfield (2-0).

Lake City Beats Pine Island 14-12

The Lake City Tigers were able to pick up their first win of the season with a win over Pine Island (0-2). Lake City (1-1) will take on LaCrescent-Hokah (1-1) in Week 2 action, while Pine Island will battle Rochester Lourdes.

La Crescent-Hokah Tops Zumbrota-Mazeppa 41-16

The Lancers picked up a big win over Z-M in Week 2 action to move to 1-1 on the year. The Lancers will take on Lake City in Week 3 while Z-M (0-2) will battle Cannon Falls at home.

Owatonna Tops Rochester Century 24-0

Owatonna's defense was fantastic in the Huskies win over Rochester Century Friday night, holding the Panthers scoreless. Owatonna (1-1) takes on Mankato West (2-0) at home next week while Rochester Century (0-2) hosts Rochester Mayo (2-0) in a cross-town matchup.

Austin Beats Rochester John Marshall 30-0

The Austin Packers offense was rolling and the defense shut out Rochester John Marshall 30-0 in Week 2 action. Austin (1-1) takes on New Prague next week, while Rochester JM will host Northfield.

Caledonia Beats Lewiston-Altura 61-6

Caledonia's offense was firing fast in the win over the Cardinals in Week 2. The Warriors (2-0) will take on Dover-Eyota (1-1) in Week 3. The Cardinals will host Goodhue (1-1) next week.
