The music world lost a legend September 12, 2003.  Johnny Cash passed away at Nashville's Baptist Hospital from complications of diabetes.  This just four months after his wife, June Carter, died.

The fabulous George Jones was born September 12, 1931 in Saratoga, Texas.  Jones' voice is one of the best in country music.  Jones joined the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992.  "The Possum" recorded a string of hits during his career; his signature song being "He Stopped Loving Her Today".  Jones passed away April 26, 2013.

Sugarland lead singer, Jennifer Nettles, was born in 1974 in Douglas, Georgia.  After the break-up of Sugarland, Nettles has gone on to have a successful solo career.

In 1990, Alan Jackson received his first gold album, it being awarded for "Here In The Real World".
