Country Music History May 25

"The Storyteller", Tom T. Hall, was born May 25, 1936 in Olive Hill, Kentucky.  Country Music Hall of Fame member, Hall recorded many hit songs, as well as writing for others, including "Harper Valley P.T.A".

Jessi Colter, given name Mirriam Johnson, was born in 1943 in Phoenix, Arizona.  Jessi had a big hit with "I'm Not Lisa".

At the Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California in 2005 during a concert, Garth Brooks dropped to one knee and proposed to Trisha Yearwood.  Of course, she said yes!

"American Idol" in 2011 is won by Scotty McCreery; while in 2005, the Idol winner is Carrie Underwood.

Finally, in 2002, "Drive (For Daddy Gene)" by Alan Jackson is #1 on the Billboard charts and remains there for four weeks.
