Country Music History May 10
Happy Tuesday, friends. Let's start off by checking the Billboard Country Singles Chart for today's date. 1952 the #1 single is Hank Thompson and "The Wild Side of Life". In 1975, Gary Stewart is #1 with "She's Actin' Single (I'm Drinkin' Doubles)"; the only #1 Billboard single of his career. A song I really like, The Judds and "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days)" 1986.
In 1994 in Hewitt, Texas, Willie Nelson got himself in a bit of trouble. Asleep in his vehicle on the side of the road, police come upon Nelson and arrest him on drug charges after they find the butt from a doobie in his ashtray.
And finally, in 2008, Carrie Underwood is inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
