One of the first ladies of country music, Loretta Lynn, joined the Songwriters Hall of Fame this date in 2008.

"Write This Down"  by George Strait hit #1 on the Billboard charts in 1999.

Back in 1971, Jerry Reed's "When You're Hot, You're Hot" is the number 1 single on the Billboard charts.

And way back in 1914, Lester Flatt was born in Duncan's Chapel, Tennessee.  Flatt, along with his partner Earl Scruggs, were instrumental in the development of bluegrass music.
