Reba McEntire's remake of "Cathy's Clown" by The Everly Brothers reaches #1 on the Billboard chart in 1989.

Joe Montana and Howie Long are inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.  Clay Walker was on hand to sing the national anthem.

In Cooperstown, New York in 2006, seventeen former Negro League players join the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Charley Pride, a former Negro League baseball player himself, sang the American and Canadian national anthems at the ceremony.
